Transforming Software Delivery in a Telecoms Organisation
From one release a quarter to several a day, with security built in.
case-study --telecoms --continuous-deliveryHeadline results
delivery.frequency: quarterly → multiple/day
bug.resolution: weeks → hours
security: shift-left, in every pipeline
Context
A major telecommunications provider had several development teams delivering software through fragmented, inconsistent processes.
Challenge
- DevSecOps was a single-person effort, with no shared standards.
- Java and frontend teams used different methods, creating silos.
- Development environments were so restricted that they held back innovation.
- Deployments weren’t automated and had no security visibility.
- Infrastructure policies blocked modern DevSecOps practices.
Approach
We started with a diagnostic assessment, then worked on three fronts:
- Standardisation. A unified continuous delivery strategy, standardised CI/CD pipelines and Docker-based infrastructure.
- Security integration. Security testing moved early into every pipeline, with fully automated production deployment.
- Cultural change. Teams learned the benefits of automation, management backed the change, and teams got self-service DevSecOps capabilities. Alternative service providers were used to work around infrastructure constraints.
Results
Release cadence went from once a quarter to multiple times a day. Bug resolution dropped from weeks to hours. Vulnerabilities are caught earlier, and teams control their own releases.
